Wheatheat® Blood test helper

The blood test helper is a little heat pillow that is used to

• Dilate blood vessels prior to puncturing veins, thereby making them easier to puncture.
• Take blood tests from capillaries, to improve circulation and achieve more reliable test results.

The blood test helper was developed in co-operation with the anaesthetic nurse Margita Swenson from Örebro. It was awarded the "Golden Apple" prize by MEDA AB in 1998 for the best medical care idea. Set consisting of one pillow, 5 covers and a plastic case for storage and heating.

The inner pillow is filled with certified organic wheat.
The Wheatheat® pillow is CE-labelled and registered with the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare as a Class 1 medico-technical product.

To heat: Place the blood test helper in the plastic case and put in a microwave oven for 60 seconds at 700W. Halve the time if the pillow has recently been heated.

Note: For patients with sensitive skin and reduced circulation (children, the elderly, or patients with rheumatism or diabetes) the cushion should be left to cool for a couple of minutes after heating, and an extra cloth should be placed between the hot cushion and the skin. The cushion should not be used to treat emergency patients or applied to damaged skin.
